furry story

The couple sat together on the mat laid in the grass, watching the two young kits play around the old oak tree. They ran round in happy giddy little circles, playing the sort of game that amuses young children for hours. The smaller of the two kits wore a white bandit's mask of fur around her eyes that contrasted strangely with the midnight black of the fur on her body. Her brother was the same ochre colour as his mother, but the tip of his tail and the paws were black, like his father's.

The fox leaned happily against the taller panther, whose arms were around her waist as he kissed her cheek.
"She's gonna be tall."
He smiled happily at the thought of his daughter, who giggled and laughed like true four year old should. Her name was Luna, and she was the older of the two who played on the warm grass beneath the oak. The smaller boy was called James, and gave the laugh all three year olds do when they are enjoying themselves.

The panther held his lover against himself, feeling her warmth and thinking how much he loved her. He couldn't stop himself from purring as he played with her hair, and smiled when she did the same. She loved him too, though neither could explain why. She giggled when he tickled her under her ribs, and squirmed like a little girl. He loved the sound of that giggle, as cute as anything he'd ever known.

The kits ran up with that bouncy, prolonged-fall motion that young children always have, jumping on their parents and play-biting at their ears. The young family rolled and played, enjoying the simple fun and laughing. The diamond on the young foxes finger glittered in the sun, and shone with the gold band on her husband's own hand. The family played and laughed.. and loved.. together.
